My husband, Joe, & I have been very blessed to travel many wonderful places around the world; but after being diagnosed with sleep apnea last year; this diagnosis really put a “damper” on our active life style and our travel plans when having to deal with a CPAP machine and all it involved.  I went through 6 or 7 different mask options throughout the last year, but none of these worked for me.  The Sleep Clinic then suggested I might want to see Dr. Tim Martin of Martin Dentistry.  What a blessing that turned out to be for me!  After my initial consultation with Dr. Martin, he completed a thorough examination and evaluation of my situation.  He was so patient, understanding, and so knowledgeable about the issues of sleep apnea.  (You need to check out his credentials)!  He then fitted me with a small non-invasive dental appliance to wear as I sleep at night.  From the very first night, my symptoms disappeared and have not returned.   It’s really difficult to describe in words how much this has changed my life!  It’s been amazing!!  Dr. Tim and his warm and wonderful staff are such caring, compassionate people, and I cannot express enough how wonderful it is not to have to carry a CPAP machine with me everywhere I travel, as well as dealing with it at home.  It has given me a new lease on life.

I would encourage anyone who is having difficulty with sleep apnea to contact Dr. Tim and his amazing team!

Like many others, I had tried using a CPAP and sleep medications to help with my sleep apnea and fatigue; neither worked well for me. I could not tolerate the CPAP and actually rested much less with it. The sleep medications had very negative side effects for me. While I know many find these helpful, for me they were not effective options. Dr. Martin introduced me to the sleep appliance and I found it to be very helpful. I have not completely stopped snoring but my snoring has greatly decreased. I sleep better at night now and wake up more rested in the morning. Like all medical devices there is a short period of time it takes to get used to the device. The other thing I liked about the sleep appliance is you can adjust it very slowly so you can get to your maximum improvement level. It’s very easy to travel with and fits easily in a toiletries case, whereas the CPAP was much more troublesome to take on trips, especially trips that required air travel. Overall I’ve been very pleased with the sleep appliance, its simplicity in design, and effectiveness in results. Dr. Martin and his staff have been a pleasure to work with and you know they have your best interest at heart. You’re more than just a patient to them you’re a real person that matters!

I was diagnosed with severe, obstructive sleep apnea following a sleep study in January 2007. As expected I was placed on CPAP to treat this serious condition. For the next year I tried numerous masks, too many to count, and even went onto BiPAP in hopes of finding a mask/machine I could use regularly. After many sleep interrupted nights struggling with the mask fit/seal I finally gave up on trying treating my sleep apnea. This was a tough decision for me, as I am in the medical profession and know the serious health affects this condition poses, but I simply could not find a mask that I could effectively use.

A couple years later I saw a flyer from Martin Dentistry and The Center for Dental Sleep Medicine talking about a dental appliance that could be used in treating sleep apnea. The local physician that I work for and myself researched this and found that yes indeed these devices do exist and actually have a proven track record of success, so I made and appointment with Dr. Martin to discuss my particular case. We both felt that the oral device was worth trying in lieu of not treating my sleep apnea but had some reservations of how successful the device would be, due to the severity of my sleep apnea.

The sleep appliance has worked beyond my farthest expectations. The sleep study performed while using my oral appliance also showed a remarkable improvement. I am sleeping through the night, have more energy during the day and have peace of mind that I no longer stop breathing during the night. The sleep appliance is quite comfortable to wear, easy to take on trips and has been a true blessing for me and my family. Dr. Martin and the staff of Martin Dentistry and Sleep Medicine are exceptional people who obviously enjoy what they do as you could not find a better group of people to make sure all your needs and questions get answered. They handled everything from fitting the appliance to working with the insurance companies to pay for the appliance, all I had to do was come in for my appointments and wear the device. I strongly urge anyone who has sleep apnea to seek medical treatment for this serious condition and not continue to ignore it. There any many options out there and I can think of no better place to get that care than Martin Dentistry, you will feel welcome from the minute you walk in the door.

My name is Justin Jenkins. After trying CPAP and surgery without any success I decided to talk to Dr. Martin about oral appliance therapy. I’ve noticed a huge difference in the way I feel during the day after wearing my appliance. A month ago, my dog used my appliance as a chew toy and I really noticed a difference in the three weeks I was without it. Before appliance therapy I was tired all the time and had no energy, now I cannot imagine being without it.
